It can be mixed with almost all organic solvents such as alcohol, ketones and esters in any ratio and be slightly soluble in water. Dimethyl carbonate is a good methylating agent, chemical agent, hydroxymethylating agent and methoxyating agent, with very active chemical characteristics. As an organic synthesis intermediate, it is widely used to produce the solute of low boiling point solvent, cleaning agent, propellant and special paint.
